Dear Freedom Elementary Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new and returning families and share my enthusiasm for the upcoming school year. I hope your summer has gone well and you are excited about the beginning of school.

It is a great honor to serve as the principal of Freedom Elementary.  Education and learning has been an essential part of my entire life. Coming from a family of educators and marrying an educator has aided in my passion to create high levels of educational experiences for all children.

Prior to joining Freedom Elementary School, I served as an elementary teacher, assistant principal at East Elementary and head principal at Partridge Elementary. I earned a bachelors degree at Drury University, a masters and specialist degree from Lindenwood University in Educational Leadership. I have 4 children; three of them are students in the Waynesville School District.  I enjoy traveling, reading, attending WHS sporting events and spending time with my family.

Freedom Elementary wants, needs, and values your involvement and support in your child’s education!  Active participation is key to the success of your young Tiger during his/her elementary school years.

Please feel free to contact me if you ever have questions or concerns.  Always remember, it’s a great day to be a Tiger!

Dear Freedom Families,

Hello! My name is Kris Scott and I am excited to be the assistant principal intern. I have worked in the Waynesville School district for 14 years as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at both Freedom and East Elementary. I taught 4th grade at Success Elementary before moving to the Waynesville area. I was also an instructor/course developer for several years at Fort Leonard Wood before retiring from the Air National Guard.

I am married to Andy, and we have three wonderful children. My husband retired from the Air Force several years ago. I grew up in Owensville, Missouri so I am happy to be here in Waynesville so close to my home. At Freedom Elementary, we aim to empower students to be life - long learners and to accelerate learning potential. We encourage an inclusive, safe, and positive environment that supports the development of confident leaders. I look forward to working closely with you to ensure your child receives the very best educational experience possible.

BA in General Education, MA in Middle School Education, EdS in Educational Administration

Dear Freedom Elementary Families,

I'm excited to join the Freedom Family as an Assistant Principal Intern. I spent the last six years as a Kindergarten Teacher in the District and look forward to the new adventures that will come as an Admin here at Freedom.  As a Waynesville Graduate, I'm beyond thankful for the opportunity to work in the same District! I'm forever grateful for this current role that allows me to continually assist in preparing children in the way they should go, with the expectation that when they are older they won't turn from it.

Our hope is that your child experiences a safe and kind learning environment while at Freedom. Please feel free to contact me anytime
